This work by Franco Grignani is symmetrical respect to a vertical axis. It consists of a white background on which black squares are superimposed. Grignani moves a generating square so that its edge flows along a kind of parabola. In the last movement the square takes on a horizontal shape. Between this shape and the initial one, the square undergoes a rotation of constant entity around a hypothetical center (the focus of the parabola?). Dividing this rotation into equal parts results in an accordion figure that is repeated by flipping it around the vertical axis. The resulting figure is then copied via a vertical translation. At this point the visual perception of the viewer comes into play. In fact, the eye perceives the figure as four arms that extend outwards creating a third virtual dimension.
