François Morellet made many works of this type, called "griage", using steel or iron wire. The difference between the various types consists of the thickness of the thread, the distance between one thread and another, the inclination of the threads, the number of layers of superimposed threads. In our case we have oxidized steel wires that Morellet has stretched over a table and fixed laterally with metal staples. The constant distance between the wires is 10 mm and their inclination is 0°, +8°, -8°, in this case we are therefore dealing with three layers. The board on which the threads are laid is painted black. Since Morellet worked mainly with neon, this artistic solution seems to repeat the structures made with neon with wire. But thinking in philosophy, the weave of these threads could also be the prison that keeps us chained to the earth represented by the black table.
