This by Carlo Mattioli is a Caravaggesque still life. We know in fact that Mattioli in the 60s tried his hand at many still lifes in imitation of those of Caravaggio. This one in question is distinguished by its white background and bright colors ranging from yellow to red, plum, green, gray and black. The grapes, cherries, figs, lemons, apples and leaves that garnish the basket overflowing from it are represented with quick strokes of the brush.
