Note the complexity of this work by Piero Dorazio. It is a dense grid that the eye perceives as blue from a distance, while up close the grids are painted with differently shaded colors but still tending towards light. The color doesn't seem spread out on the canvas but brought back with the tip of the brush. Ultimately, Dorazio's grid is like a net that catches and prevents you from getting out. The grid is therefore the pictorial representation of the uses, customs, obligations, conveniences, rules, etc. which all together imprison the person in society.
