Short Review

This work by Angelo Cagnone has a complex structure. The work has two horizontal bands, one upper ranging from light gray to black and one lower ranging from black to dark gray. What does Angelo Cagnone mean with these two symmetrical bands equal in size? The change of mood during the day? A gimmick to make the picture more choppy? We don't know. At the top, almost centrally, there is a photo of a woman's face, but the face is hidden by a black oval stain that makes it impossible to understand its expression and features. With this gimmick Angelo Cagnone leaves to our imagination the unveiling of this face, in other words it wants to involve us in the discovery of a significant part of the work. Under his hidden face Angelo Cagnone builds a light gray right triangle with writings and black dots on the writings that do not allow to identify its meaning. This triangle represents a break of a day rather gray  symbolized by the lumpy black to the right and left?. An interruption due to an unexpected visit or a moment of rest and reflection on the work under construction? To make this pitch black less funerary, Angelo Cagnone traces the thin white wave lines, perhaps a conditioned reflection of the sea of Liguria, his homeland washed by the sea.
