Les guermantes by Baj

We're publishing on our website two works by Enrico Baj that refer to the "Guermantes." This is a two-volume work by Marcel Proust; in the first, "Le côté de Guermantes," the protagonist and narrator moves with his family to a Parisian mansion where the Guermantes family also lives, a noble aristocratic family that had always represented a mythical and distant world for him. Entering the salon of the Duchess of Guermantes, frequented by aristocrats, nobles, politicians, and military personnel, Proust discovers the superficiality of a world far removed from everyday reality, moving from illusion to disappointment.
