On Saturday, December 13, 2014, we held a focus event in our gallery on two works by Joseph Kosuth, belonging to the "Cathexis" series, specifically those entitled Cathexis #33 and Cathexis #34. As we've already noted, the two works are two details from a photo depicting the unpacking of a Giorgione painting, The Judgement of Solomon. It's impossible to trace the work in its entirety from the details, but Kosuth's aim is not to pose some sort of "riddle," but to inspire interest in the viewer, an interest that can be speculative, involving emotional involvement, that is, what philosophers and Freud call "investment." The presentation was by critic and curator Ivan Quaroni, and you can view it on Instagram on the profile of our director Erminia Colossi.
