Marco Casentini
Biography
Artistic currents

Marco Casentini was born in La Spezia in 1961. He attended and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara. He held his first solo exhibition in 1983 at the Nanu Gallery in Lucerne where he stayed occasionally. He moved to Milan in 1988 and here his paintings are influenced by the dark colors of the Lombard plain. He visited major European cities and from 1996 began traveling to the United States of America especially to California where he established his second home. It is from this period that his colors lighten and his works become patches of light color probably under the influence of the brightness of California and urban architecture. Since the 2000s Casentini's work has found space in American art magazines and is rewarded with participation in numerous solo and group exhibitions. In 2004 he was invited to the collective of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Tucson entitled "Paint on metal" together with Mirò, Calder, Raushenberg and others and the one at the Museum für Koncrete Zunst in Inglostadt, Germany. In 2005 he also received the Pollock-Krasner Foundation award in New York, but it is still a follow-up to exhibitions both in America and in Europe to this day.
